TIPS ON BOOSTING PRODUCTIVITY
As Mark Twain said, "The Secret To Getting Ahead is Getting Started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and starting on the first one." Although easier said than done, set yourself up for success and get started on the right foot from the beginning with these helpful tips on boosting your productivity!
1. STOP SNOOZING
We all know it's hard to wake up in the morning, sometimes we just want to get that extra couple of minutes of sleep. But what your really doing is messing with your sleep cycle. Hitting the snooze button actually makes you more irritable and tired once your awake. When you fall back asleep you're restarted your sleep cycle and when the alarm goes off again, it will result in you feeling worse than just waking up the first time. We know it's a hard habit to break but once your used to it you'll be starting your day off fresh and ready to go.
2. WHAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT?
Start your day asking yourself "What are the three most important things I need to get done?" Write them down, make a list to help you focus on what really has to be completed today. This list will be a helpful reminder throughout your day and it will keep you on track on the most important tasks.
3. PLAN IT OUT
Try creating a strategy for your day. There will be interruptions and unplanned tasks but this way if you have a plan you will be able to get back on track. Plan a list of tasks you'd like to do such as, meetings, emails you need to send, and calls you need to make - things of this nature that you know you should complete before the day is over. Don't worry if you do not complete everything because now you have a guide to follow for the next day.
4. CHECK YOUR EMAILS & VOICEMAILS
It is best to check your emails and voicemail earlier on in the day. Write out your replies and make those calls in order to be in the loop with the necessities of others. Doing this in the morning will leave room later for other tasks that need more time and focus. Plus getting this done in the morning will keep you informed on what is going on with your customers and it will prepare you for follow-up conversations.
5. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF
Put your health on the top of your priorities! If you feel good, your going to work better but if your sick your work progress will decline. Make sure to drink enough water throughout the day and maintain a normal sleeping schedule. Exercise as well will help keep your health in good condition plus you'll receive endorphins which make you happy. Also don't forget to have breakfast it will keep your brain sharp and give you enough energy for concentration and productivity.
6. DRESS TO IMPRESS
There are many studies on the idea that if you dress to impress you actually feel better about yourself and you work better. It's a win win situation therefore use this to your advantage! You can't loose here. The best way to do this is to set up your outfit the night before. That way your not scrambling for an outfit in the morning and your set up for a good appearance. This will build your confidence, help maintain your professional appearance and show off your organizational skills!
